Our 3-2-1 Hybrid Working Model

  • 3 days from anywhere in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand per week,  
  • 2 days from an RACP office location per week,  
  • 1 of the two days per week in office spent with your team.  

Job Description

The Role

The purpose of this position is to provide secretariat support for the RACP Māori Health Committee (MHC) and manage project administration for Māori Health Committee and Indigenous Strategic Framework focused projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support MHC representatives at college committee meetings by assisting with preparation and attendance at meetings.
  • Provide comprehensive project administration and support to the Māori Health Committee and Hauora Māori team, including managing meeting logistics and liaising with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with initiatives that support the college's commitment to the indigenous object.
  • Uphold the kaupapa (purpose) of the Māori Health Committee to provide strategic guidance to the RACP, ensuring that the committee's initiatives and recommendations align with the broader organisational goals. This includes effectively facilitating the MHC's response to the development of long-term strategies, advising on policy formulation, and ensuring that the RACP's actions and decisions are deeply informed by Māori health perspectives and priorities.
  • Oversee the MHC email inbox and oversee activities related to the MHC work stream.
  • Monitor political and policy developments relevant to Māori health. Advocate for supportive policies, ensuring the committee's voice is heard and recommendations communicated
  • Work collaboratively with relevant college committees as well as strategic partners and cultural advisors to deliver on this work.
  • Maintain ongoing coloration and provide proactive updates to the Lead Fellow Māori Health to ensure alignment of initiatives. 

Desired Skills and Experience

The Successful Candidate

We are seeking someone who has demonstrated work experience in a similar role, providing high-level secretariat support to committees. The successful candidate will also possess:

  • Understanding of Te Ao Māori and Hauora Māori, health inequities and colonial trauma and health perspectives
  • Project administration, management and assistance experience
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to quickly understand and manage expectations in a complex multi-stakeholder environment
  • Ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to prioritise and manage deadlines
  • A commitment to professional customer / member service
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team with a flexible and collaborative approach
