Our 3-2-1 Hybrid Working Model

  • 3 days from anywhere in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand per week,  
  • 2 days from an RACP office location per week,  
  • 1 of the two days per week in office spent with your team.  

Job Description

The Supervisor Professional Development Program (SPDP) offers high-quality training for final year Advanced Trainees and Fellows (including Overseas Trained Physicians actively completing requirements for specialist registration). 

This position is responsible for understanding and articulating the needs of these stakeholders, the College’s business objectives, the preferences of industry practitioners, educational practices, and emerging technologies; ultimately compiling them into a strategic plan for a robust and self-renewing Program.

It is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the program across all channels (online, in person and others), including a sustainable commercial model, and works closely with a range of teams across the College.

This position has 6 direct reports.

Program Leadership and Strategy

Lead the development and implementation of the program plan and roadmap, ensuring clear communication across the Portfolio and division.

Manage program stakeholders, nurturing key internal and external relationships to support current operations and future growth.

Oversee product development and delivery in close collaboration with Program Innovation to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

Ensure the program meets all regulatory and compliance requirements, proactively anticipating future needs and opportunities.

Champion the user experience, driving member engagement and monitoring program performance.

Lead technology integration and maintain oversight in collaboration with the Growth, Innovation and Performance team to ensure seamless digital delivery.

Strategically allocate resources and manage program financials to optimise outcomes and ensure long-term sustainability.

Embed data analysis and reporting best practices across operations, programs, and products to inform continuous improvement.

Team and Operational Leadership

Lead and support the team through adoption of new ways of working, systems, and processes to enhance efficiency and impact.

Manage strategic and operational risks associated with the program and its delivery.

Oversee member support and feedback processes in collaboration with MES and other relevant channels.

Develop team capability through leadership of one direct report, providing regular feedback to drive high performance.

Provide support, advice, training, and mentoring to staff, strengthening skills in administration, program development, and complaint handling.

Collaborate with other program areas to ensure a consistent and seamless member experience.

Governance, Communication and Engagement

Develop and implement relevant policies and procedures to support program delivery and compliance.

Lead the program with commercial and business acumen to drive improved organisational outcomes.

Prepare high-quality briefs, reports, and recommendations for College Committees and senior College leaders.

Model professional behaviour, setting a positive example for College staff and Fellows in language, attitude, and conduct.

Communicate constructively and effectively, considering multiple strategic and operational perspectives.

Build and maintain strategic partnerships to enhance program outcomes.

Leverage events and other engagement opportunities to increase program visibility, engagement, and effectiveness.

Identify and shape new revenue and commercial opportunities to support the program’s growth and sustainability.

Essential Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. adult education, medical education, e- learning, communication, policy making). 
  • Project Management qualifications and/or suitable experience. 
  • Experience working with content that is based on digital platforms. 
  • Proven project management expertise, problem solving skills, ability to make complex judgements, find creative solutions whilst meeting tight deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated experience to develop, monitor and reach predicted outcomes in line with strategic and business plans. 
  • Highly developed and effective negotiation, influencing, and people and stakeholder engagement and management skills. 
  • High level oral and written communication, including policy/process documentation and fluent, concise and accurate report writing, to gain consensus and commitment from others this includes interpersonal and consultation skills, and an ability to build strong working relationships with senior staff and key stakeholders. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Understanding of relevant technology. 
  • Understanding of online learning programs and social learning. 
  • Understanding of risk management framework. 
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, including the ability to effectively work with time poor stakeholders and plan and organise complex schedules and multiple events at one time. 
  • Demonstrated success in planning and risk management. 
  • A driven approach to delivery. 
  • Ability to work independently, undertaking a high level of personal responsibility and initiative as required within the role.  
  • Advanced technical skills, including use of MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project).  
  • Open attitude to working with others.
