Our 3-2-1 Hybrid Working Model

  • 3 days from anywhere in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand per week,  
  • 2 days from an RACP office location per week,  
  • 1 of the two days per week in office spent with your team.  

Job Description

About the Role

This role sits within the Policy & Advocacy (P&A) team, which develops health policies and drives external advocacy and engagement opportunities. The Senior P&A Officer will work with Fellows and trainees, and other team members, to develop compelling, relevant and timely health related policy and advocacy activities.

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify opportunities for innovative policy and advocacy activities
  • Develop policy, advocacy and communications strategies and materials for College priorities
  • Engage the College membership
  • Engage with relevant internal and external stakeholders on College priorities
  • Research the evidence, literature base and external commentary on various health related topics
  • Prepare background papers, submissions and briefs to inform decision making and contribute to advocacy
  • Participate in the provision of rapid responses to health policy issues as they arise
  • Remain up-to-date and well informed on health policy matters, advocacy tools and resource 

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • 2 years + experience in a Senior Policy role
  • Experience with the development of health and/or social policies, position statements and briefing papers
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Highly developed analytical skills, political judgement and strategic thinking
  • Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Ability to work within a context of ambiguity and identify potential solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills in preparing briefs and background analyses
  • Ability to prioritise, multitask and manage deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team with a flexible approach to sharing tasks and working cooperatively
