Our 3-2-1 Hybrid Working Model
3 days from anywhere in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand per week,
2 days from an RACP office location per week,
1 of the two days per week in office spent with your team.
Job Description
About the Role
This role sits within the Policy & Advocacy (P&A) team, which develops health policies and drives external advocacy and engagement opportunities. The Senior P&A Officer will work with Fellows and trainees, and other team members, to develop compelling, relevant and timely health related policy and advocacy activities.
Key responsibilities include:
Identify opportunities for innovative policy and advocacy activities
Develop policy, advocacy and communications strategies and materials for College priorities
Engage the College membership
Engage with relevant internal and external stakeholders on College priorities
Research the evidence, literature base and external commentary on various health related topics
Prepare background papers, submissions and briefs to inform decision making and contribute to advocacy
Participate in the provision of rapid responses to health policy issues as they arise
Remain up-to-date and well informed on health policy matters, advocacy tools and resource
About You
The successful candidate will have:
2 years + experience in a Senior Policy role
Experience with the development of health and/or social policies, position statements and briefing papers
Relevant tertiary qualifications
Highly developed analytical skills, political judgement and strategic thinking
Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship management
Ability to work within a context of ambiguity and identify potential solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated skills in preparing briefs and background analyses
Ability to prioritise, multitask and manage deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work in a team with a flexible approach to sharing tasks and working cooperatively
