The Role
The Risk and Compliance Officer is responsible for:
• Assisting the Risk and Compliance Manager (R&C Manager) in reporting to the SLT, the FRMC and the Board
• Co-ordinating and facilitating the work of a team of Risk Champions drawn from the business units of the RACP in the identification, assessment, and treatment of risks to provide insights to the R&C Manager highlighting the key areas of risk
• Reporting on the completion of actions in response to the findings of Internal Audit and consultants
• Co-ordinating the completion and review of project and business unit operational risk registers
Main responsibilities;
Assisting the Risk Champions and College management to use the available tools and frameworks to identify, assess, and manage strategic and operational risks
Assisting the Risk and Compliance Manager in reporting to the Finance and Risk Management Committee and Board on risk management activities
Co-ordinating the updating of the operational and divisional risk registers
Provision of advice and support to the Risk Champions, management and staff in reviewing and assessing emerging issues and areas of risk in order to facilitate consistent reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, FRMC and the Board
Provision of risk management training and support to College Management and staff in order to increase awareness and promote uptake of the framework and risk management process
Provision of advice and support to the to the Risk Champions, management and staff in the design of internal controls and business processes designed to manage or reduce risks to the College
Monitoring of action points arising from Internal Audit and Consultant reviews and assisting in reporting to the SLT, FRMC, and Board
Desired Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have:
Over five years’ experience in audit and risk management roles
Experience or understanding of the health/higher Education Sector
CA, CPA, or CIA
Demonstrated
problem solving skills and research/ analytical ability,, including the ability to obtain and interpret information and make specific recommendations
capacity to exercise sound judgement in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues at Board executive and senior level roles
project management experience
organisational and time management skills
Superior oral and expert written communication skills
