The Role
The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) is seeking an experienced and values-driven Senior Project Officer to support the delivery of strategic initiatives that advance reconciliation, cultural safety, and Indigenous health equity across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Reporting to the Head of Indigenous Affairs, you will play a key role in advancing Indigenous self-determination across the College by designing, implementing, and embedding initiatives that strengthen Indigenous leadership, cultural capability, and organisational transformation. Working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, you will help realise the College's Indigenous Strategic Framework, Reconciliation Action Plan, and Indigenous Object, while supporting the decolonisation of systems, policies, and practices to enable equitable and culturally responsive outcomes.
A key focus of the role is the co-design, implementation, and integration of a comprehensive Indigenous Allyship Engagement Model across the RACP, fostering accountability, cultural safety, and Indigenous-led systems change.
Working across a diverse range of stakeholders, you will provide project management, governance, stakeholder engagement and implementation support to deliver meaningful, sustainable outcomes that positively impact Indigenous communities, Fellows, trainees, staff and the broader health system.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the planning, implementation, and evaluation of strategic projects and initiatives.
Providing project governance, reporting, risk management, and continuous improvement support.
Coordinating stakeholder engagement, consultation, and communication activities.
Supporting the development and implementation of policies, programs, and frameworks.
Preparing high-quality reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leaders and governance bodies.
Building strong partnerships across the College and with external stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
Contributing to organisational change and the delivery of strategic priorities.
Desired Skills and Experience
The Successful Candidate
You are an experienced project professional with strong stakeholder engagement and organisational change capabilities. You thrive in complex environments, can navigate ambiguity with confidence, and are motivated by work that delivers meaningful social impact.
You will bring:
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous policy, reconciliation, cultural safety, anti-racism, and the impacts of colonisation on Indigenous health outcomes.
Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and strategic initiatives from planning through to implementation and evaluation.
Strong governance, planning, risk management, and reporting skills.
Exceptional communication, consultation, and relationship-building abilities.
Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and building trusted partnerships.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate strategy into action.
A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.
The ideal candidate will also have experience working within the health, education, membership, not-for-profit, or government sectors and a genuine commitment to advancing Indigenous health equity and organisational change.
Join us and contribute to building a more culturally safe, equitable, and inclusive future for Indigenous peoples and communities.
