Our 3-2-1 Hybrid Working model: 
- 3 days from anywhere in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand per week,  
- 2 days from an RACP office location per week,  
- 1 of the two days per week in office spent with your team.

The Role

The Adult Medicine Division (AMD) provides secretariat support for the Adult Medicine Division Council and its Committees as well as the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (AChAM), the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (AChPM), and the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine (AChSHM).

The Division acts as the governing professional body for adult medicine physicians, providing collegial support and guidance on policy development, professional development, advocacy and networking.

This role is to lead, manage & support the operations of the AMD and the Chapters, building and nurturing strong relationships with it’s members. The role also manages a small team, providing guidance and leadership.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Manager, Peak Bodies and the Executive General Manager, Member Engagement and Support to develop and manage an annual activity plan and budget for the AMD Council, Chapters and associated committees.
  • Ensure the activities and processes of these College bodies align with the RACP Strategic Plan, are consistent with the operational goals, and comply with organisational governance.
  • Work closely with the AMD President and President-elect to deliver these plans, providing excellent strategic support through the timely provision of relevant information, advice, and recommendations as required, and acting in accordance with College policy.
  • Manage performance of the AMD Council and the Chapters through systematic budget tracking and performance reviews.
  • Contribute to the College’s election cycle for the AMD Council and Chapters and support the handover to new AMD and Chapter Presidents and Presidents-elect.

Desired Skills and Experience

The Successful Candidate

Along with tertiary qualifications in management, education, health or other relevant disciplines, you will also possess:

  • Highly developed relationship management skills and ability to nurture positive working relationships across an organisation
  • Proven experience in developing business plans and budgets to align to strategic direction, particularly in a complex stakeholder environment
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of high quality submissions, papers and reports
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing staff
  • Ability to navigate through complex political environments
  • Ability to identify, mitigate and manage risk
  • Sound analytical and evaluation skills
  • Project management skills
  • Experience working with health professionals would be advantageous.
